The POP-EXPOSE ‘Hanna-Barbera’ Story by Mitchell Smith!

Saturday mornings were owned by Hanna-Barbera for the better part of 4 decades. It was formed in 1957 by former Metro Goldwyn Mayer animation directors William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. They created so many characters and shows over the years. Just to name a few that I looked forward to on Saturday morning or after school are, The Flintstones, The Jetsons, Scooby Doo, Yogi Bear, Hong Kong Phooey, and the Smurfs, but the list goes on and on.

Although both have died their legacy is one the world will long remember. Growing up, Saturday mornings were long waited for. It was what was worth getting up for. Flipping through 3 channels to try and get all of them in was hard, but the majority of the cartoons ended with the Hanna-Barbera logo. They just had so much good material and kept things exciting for a kid. I have to say I got my fix of after school with the Flintstones as well. There was no DVR and we didn’t have a VCR till the late 80’s or 90’s even, so if you slept in on a Saturday, you had to wait till the following Saturday.

Saturday is getting up and going to Karate or bridge building, they watch cartoons on Netflix when they feel like it. Never the less my kids still enjoy watching Hanna-Barbera cartoons as well.
